Jessye Norman: The Duke and the Diva

Season Opening Performance
An Evening of the Music of Duke Ellington with Jessye Norman and jazz quartet

Jessye Norman is a legendary and much-loved artist, among the most distinguished in a long line of American sopranos who refuses to believe in limits. She has said that she simply hopes "that it makes a difference to some people that I was here." The difference she has made is undeniable, and her voice has been a sweet caress for audiences all over the world. In the Center’s eighth season opener, she brings us her sophisticated, passionate program celebrating the music of another American legend, Duke Ellington, in selections from his sacred music canon and his well-known favorites such as "It Don’t Mean a Thing," "In My Solitude" and "Don’t Get Around Much Anymore."

This concert is sold out and, due to the extremely high demand for tickets, we are no longer offering an email list or a standby line on the night of the performance. Standing room is not available in the Dekelboum Concert Hall.
