Why Give

Why GiveThe Clarice Smith Performing Arts Center — home to a vibrant visiting artist program, the Michelle Smith Performing Arts Library and the College of Arts and Humanities' Department of Theatre, Department of Dance, and School of Music — is a pioneer in changing the role of university performing arts centers.

Our home at the University of Maryland provides us with exceptional resources and we aspire to set a new standard for academic and community engagement in the performing arts at a major research university. Our work is helping redefine how institutions of higher education, performing arts centers and the communities they share can enrich one another. At Maryland, all aspects of the performing arts are integrated, deepening the artistic and educational experience for everyone — faculty, artists, students and audiences. This symbiotic relationship among academic programs, the performing arts library, and visiting artists creates opportunities that would not be possible otherwise.

Our success is changing the national conversation about the performing arts in higher education. Your participation will help us continue leading the way.
