TITLE: Production Manager

RESPONSIBILITIES:
The Production Manager has primary responsibility for the "produced events" at the Clarice Smith Center. These include Department of Theater productions, Opera productions from the School of Music and Department of Dance productions. The Production Manager will work closely with the units in the planning of effective production processes and will take the lead in scheduling the movement of the shows through the shops and into the theaters. The Production Manager is expected to conduct this process in a highly collaborative way that recognizes the unique requirements of performing arts productions in an academic environment. The Production Manager supervises the Technical Director, Paint, Properties and Costume Managers. The Production Manager provides oversight for the production budgets, including tracking and reporting expenses. The Production Manager oversees the recruitment, contracting and hiring of all casual labor for Production. The Production Manager serves as a Safety Compliance Officer for the Center.

QUALIFICATIONS:
MINIMUM: Bachelor's Degree in performing arts or a related field. 10 years experience in performing arts technical or production management with at least 5 years experience at a major venue. Extensive professional experience in at least one of the following: Theatre, Dance or Opera. Preferred: Professional experience in performing arts management in a University setting.

KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS, ABILITIES:
Thorough knowledge of current practices and procedures in professional performing arts technical or production management; Strong familiarity with current performing arts facilities, equipment and technologies; Superior communication skills; Excellent organization and management skills
